Where is the ASFB headed?

Announcement
August 16, 2024

In 2022, the Association held its latest edition of Stockholm Fashion Week, which was preceded by a tumultuous time within the Swedish and global fashion industry. Since then, the Association has taken time to learn what is needed for its members in a time that has completely left the lockdown years behind.

The outcome of this reflection is two-fold. First, the Association remains steadfast in adhering to its core statutes, particularly the statute which emphasizes our dedication to promoting the economic interests of our members by championing Swedish fashion both domestically and internationally. Members are encouraged to actively participate in this mission by engaging with the Association’s services and collaborating in its initiatives such as Stockholm Fashion Week, Swedish Threads, and more tba.

Second, there is a concerted effort to revitalise Stockholm Fashion Week to better serve our members' needs and respond to evolving industry dynamics. Recognizing these shifts, the Association aims to offer comprehensive production and venue support to its members, ensuring that the event is not only a showcase of creativity but also a robust commercial platform where participating brands can expect to come away with content and PR as needed. By scheduling Stockholm Fashion Week for June, we position the event at a time when Sweden is at its most inviting, offering attendees an enriching experience both professionally and culturally.

In addition to revitalising Stockholm Fashion Week, the Association is excited to introduce "Swedish Threads," a pioneering program designed to cultivate the next generation of fashion industry leaders. By using The ASFB Triangle as a baseline, Swedish Threads will unite the business, design, and sustainability talents of tomorrow to develop solutions needed today. This initiative fosters cross-school collaboration, group mentorships, and competition, providing students with hands-on experience and the opportunity to contribute to the development of the future of fashion. By partnering with multiple schools, Swedish Threads aims to break down silos and encourage interdisciplinary learning, equipping students with the skills and insights necessary to navigate and innovate in a rapidly evolving industry.

Looking ahead, the Association's strategy is clear: to create a dynamic and inclusive fashion ecosystem that supports its members in navigating the challenges of a rapidly changing market. By focusing on economic growth, international collaboration, and sustainability, the ASFB is poised to lead the Swedish fashion industry into a new era of success and influence.

As the fashion landscape continues to evolve, the Association remains dedicated to being a pillar of support for its members, driving innovation and ensuring that Swedish fashion remains at the forefront of global trends. Through these initiatives, the ASFB is not only adapting to change but actively shaping the future of fashion in Sweden and beyond.
